Antal, a man who confidently fronts an eclectic range of beats that pulse from the heart of dance music. Always playing a little to the left of the field, Antal does not consider himself to be 100% dance scene, but not 100% urban scene either: Instead, describes himself as a man on a mission to bring in the sounds that are not so well known. Preferring not to put a name to his style, the most he’ll concede is that his music is about a diversity that feels soulful, with a raw spiritual edge…. Influenced by 60’s soul and rock music as he grew up, Antal’s obsession with records and first ventures into DJing began around ’93. His love of House music – in the broadest sense of the term – first grew through his connection to the soulful elements present in the Chicago & Detroit House sound and his enjoyment of the disco samples embedded in the sounds coming out of the Chicago House scene. His early journeys through the House led to the discovery of rooms like the LOFT in NYC, and he came under the influence of music produced by people like Carl Craig & Masters At Work…
As one of the founders of Amsterdam’s ‘Rush Hour Records’ (www.rushhour.nl), Antal lives in the world of dance music both on and off the decks: when he’s not spinning, his time is spent maintaining the ever-growing reputation and activities of ‘Rush Hour’ outfit. With worldwide distribution and an open submissions policy, Rush Hour are not only distributing what is good, but are also responsible for opening the way to a lot of local talent. The result is an outfit with a growing international following that is continuing to impact on the global culture and movements of dance music.
